Health & Fitness Suite

A friendly welcoming, community based Health and Fitness Suite, with a range of membership options to suit everyone including a pay as you go membership.  The suite has a mixture of cardio vascular equipment and free weights. Free personalised programme and regular fitness assessments also available.

Join for as little as £5. Sessions from £2.50.


We also work in partnership with the Bristol Primary Care Trust, to offer services including the Active Choice exercise referral programme and Better Breathing Class.


We also run supervised “Teen Fit” sessions for teenagers aged between 14 and 16 years old. This is a great opportunity for teenagers and a service that very few other “gyms” provide.
Opening times – Monday-Thursday 8am to 8pm, Fridays 8am to 7pm and weekends 9am to 1pm.

Meet the staff

 

James Whitham - Facilities Manager - James originally came to The Park in 2006 as a Fitness Instructor. When The Park Sports Centre was formed in June 2008 James was given the role of managing the facilities. James has a BSc in Sports Science, he is qualified in many aspects of Fitness Instructing such as Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Referral. A keen sportsman, James excels in Football, Running and Surfing.

 

Martin Hunt - Fitness Manager - Martin has been based at The Park since 2000. He joined The Park Sports Centre team in August 2009. A qualified Gym Instructor and Circuit Training Instructor, Martin now specialises in one 2 one fitness with the Health and Fitness Suite users. These sessions can be booked with him by calling 0117 3773382. Martin also holds instructing qualifications in Volleyball, Boxing and Indoor Climbing. As well Instructing in the Helath & Fitness Suite Martin is a qualified Tutor who has spent a number of years lecturing Fitness qualifications and BTEC Sport qualifications to a high standard. 

 

Zoe Harris - Health & Fitness Instructor (Referrals) - Zoe has been based at The Park since 2007. As well as a qualified GP Referral Instructor Zoe visitis Schools and the local Health Park to run sporting activities for young people. She also takes the Boxercise session held every Thursday evening at The Park.

 

Sam Groves - Health & Fitness Instructor - Sam has experience of working in Fitness Centres since 2008. After completing his CYQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor course at The Park, Sam joined our pool of Instructors. As well as a keen Gym goer Sam enjoys swimming and squash. Sam is now also studying for his Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

 

Leanne Mitchell - Health & Fitness Instructor - Leanne joined The Park in 2010. Leanne is a qualified Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer and indoor Cycling Instructor. Leanne also has Junior and Community Sports Leaders qualifications. She is also an experienced Judo player and has fought nationally and internationally for Great Britain.

 

Luke Bigwood - Health & Fitness Instructor - Luke joined the team in July 2010, like Sam after also completing his CYQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor course at the Park. A keen Gym goer Luke is also a qualified Circuit Training Instructor. Other sporting interests include Football, where he playes for St Phillips MAS FC, Tennis and Badminton.

 

Reece Bailey - Sports Centre Assistant - Recce joined the team as part of the Government's Future Jobs Fund initiative. As well as being interested in Gym work, Reece is a keen Cricketer and plays and coaches for a local team.

 

Stephen Britt - Sports Centre Assistant - Like Reece, Stephen joined the team as part of th FJF initiative. Stephen is currently studying his CYQ Level 2 Fitness Instuctor qualification at The Park.

Our Instructors are available to run sessions off site for you, your School, your team or your organisation. These sessions can range from Circuit Training or Boxercise to Hip Dancing or Cheer.
